in your village and aroundFor spreading information about the implemented project in Leitgiriai community, a seminar “Reconstruction of Leitgiriai Village Wastewater Treatment Plant: Technologies, Social and Environmental Aspects” was held and a meeting with the village community was organised in April of 2017. The inhabitants of Leitgiriai are interested in their living environment, ecological problems, therefore, they participated in the meeting abundantly and were very active.
The project partners from Aleksandras Stulginskis University and Šilutė District Municipality introduced the objective, tasks, stages and expected results of the project to the gathered people. | ||
The head of the project in Lithuania, Professor of ASU Dr Laima Česonienė reviewed the situation in the Baltic Sea Region stating that this sea was among the most polluted seas in the world. She told about efforts of countries located round the Baltic Sea to reduce the pollution, about the environmental projects being implemented and presented the Interreg VillageWaters Project. | ||
The Docent of ASU Dr Midona Dapkienė told about the project implementation stages in all participating countries (Finland, Estonia, Poland and Lithuania) and particularly about the planned reconstruction of Leitgiriai village wastewater treatment plant. The Docent of ASU Dr Algirdas Radzevičius presented the analysis of wastewater treatment technologies and equipment made by scientists and distinguished the most innovative technologies that would be the most suitable for the village wastewater plant reconstruction, he also introduced their advantages and drawbacks.
The representatives of Šilutės Vandenys, UAB: the Chair of the Production Division Martynas Kainovaitis and the Chief Engineer Vida Kiaulakienė reviewed water supply and wastewater disposal in Šilutė district, answered the questions given and notices made by the seminar participants regarding the drinking water quality and wastewater treatment in Leitgiriai village. | ||
Participants of the seminar expressed their opinions, wishes and offers regarding the smooth implementation of the project so that good results would be achieved.
The meeting later continued at a table with treats sharing various problems of Leitgiriai village community and ideas for the future. The participants of the VillageWaters Project are very grateful to the organisers and all members of the community for their warm welcome and pleasant communication, and hope for productive cooperation in the future. | ||
